Hello all,
Im posting for a friend with a 2002 busa,,,
all stock..
BUT he decided to put a after market cover on in place of the stock stator cover,, after he buttoned it up it will not start,,

Motor cranks and backfires out the exhaust,,
Questions:
1: He removed the stator and put it inside the aftermarket cover,, is there a crank position sensor or something built into the stator,,,?

2: is there ANYTHING under that cover that can cause a timing issue... that is what appears to be the issue..

He is very dilegent and has sworn there is NO pinched wires or anything and asked me the above questions,,,
I told him i would post but thought thatthe bike would run without the stator even plugged in,,, ??

SO what could be the issue....

Thanks for your

the sensor is in the alternator cover & is actuated by a trigger on the alternator rotor , personally i would go back to basics & remove the cover and retrace his steps ie check the trigger for damage , trapped wiring , has the stator been fitted correctly to the cover ,

good luck

u guys are the best !!!

You called it...
The stator cover was bad / made incorrectly...

We put the orgional stator cover on and she fired right up...!!

Thanks Again....
