Gearing

Can someone please give me a slight explanation of motorcycle sprocket gearing , such as what happens when you start adjusting teeth in the front and back. Thanks

just switched some sprockets in my track bike today...

Rear Sprocket--add teeth to increase acceleration/reduce max speed
--remove teeth increase max speed/reduce acceleration

front Sprocket--remove teeth to increase acceleration/reduce max speed
--remove teeth increase max speed/reduce acceleration


1 tooth in the front equals about 3 teeth on the rear. So adding a tooth on the front would be almost like removing three teeth in the rear.
