Shift Lever Slop

So after having the bike disassembled for almost 6 months for powdercoat and paint, I am now trying to put it back together. When I put the shifter on the rearset and put on the washer and circle clip, it seems to be very loose. Is this normal and I just am not remembering correctly?

I think it is a little loose. i lost my cicle clip a while back and used an o-ring for a temporary fix. I have yet to get a circle clip. you just reminded me of it. thanks

No problem. Got mine from sponsor motorsportssuperstore. Hmmm...mine just seems really loose, like there should be another washer or something.
