According to the manual all you have to do is to make sure the push rod moves smoothly when releasing it... I replaced mine anyway...
I'm having the camchainguides replaced when I replace the head since they're plastic and do get brittle over time I was told but that's a bit more advanced than replacing the CCT.. If you replace the CCT make sure your camchain don't move! I've heard (!!) that they can move at the bottom sprocket which you won't notice so before you start it remove all the plugs and turn the rearwheel just to make sure the valve don't hit the head!
