Problem with shifting

any problems with bikes shifting by themselves? my bike seems to do that when I go quick off the line..lost to a honda 1000 due to this problem...

There may have been some damage to the shift forks/gears from missing shifts.
Usually a problem with 1st to 2nd shifts getting missed and then the bike will jump out of second gear.
If it is in first at idle, you say it will drop into neutral on it's own?

Here is a pic of worn shift forks.
It may be that it is not completely going into 1st when you think it is, and then jumps out into neutral.

umm well its kinda a little different it is when i take off quick shifting up to high gear and then all of a sudden downshifts by itself...

That's the problem I described.
A shift from 1st to second hits neutral (or jumps out itself).
The forks are probably worn, and second gear needs to be undercut.
Common problem on all the Gen I's, esp if some shifts have been missed.
I will dig up a link for you to read up on it.

Here is a pdf of what I am talking about.
I think this may be a possible cause, but it usually happens from 1st to second, or while in second gear.
The original owner may have driven it hard off the line a lot and missed some shifts.
Some of the board sponsors undercut transmissions.
Search for them and ask them what they can do to fix it.
Good Luck!
Hey come back if you can't find the right answer.
