Blais Cycle - Best performance shop in Florida / Suzuki Show

Suzuki Day at Blais ! Beautiful Suzis everywhere ! Blais Cycle South Florida's #1 High Performance Motor Cycle Services
Since I have not been able to schedule a long enough break to make the keys run thats been itching me I decided to go to Blais Cycle in Miami to finally have my suspension properly set up.
Since I changed the factory wheels to lighter aftermarket ones the front end was light and 'skippy'. No longer felt planted.

I have mentioned Blais many times but never actually taken pics of the place or people themselves.
So here is my form of eternal thanks for creating a true animal for me.
Without plans I decided to call and see if they had time.
It was a great coincidence that i decide to go today as it was like Suzuki day there.

He is a man of great accomplishment.
People hang on his every word, even the prepositions !
Kevin Blais owner , accomplished racer and excellent tuner/craftsman.

'Dr.' Ron Cole. One of if not the nicest tuners and bike mechs I have ever met.
The man is as caring and knowledgeable as they come when working on your bike .

As mentioned these folks are the nicest people I have met ever.
In 30yrs of going to places for all things Ron and Kevin as well as Richard the head tech there are the best. All things you see on bikes were done by them performance wise and work wise.
The paint and chrome work they send out but after seeing and touching first hand let me tell you it is top notch.
"Serdi Millenium"
Blais Cycle is the only shop in South Florida that has a Serdi Millenium for cutting race valve jobs.

Just my luck it was like a mini-Suzuki show there today.

A note on the reason for my trip there. The suspension. Ever since I swapped wheels the front end was really light and would 'skip' along the road at speed especially when hard on the gas.
After about 30-45mins of tweaking I am very, very happy to say that what was a hard handling Ferarri is now a firmly planted comfortable Cadillac.
Before bumps were rough and the wheel would 'thud' over them.
Things I notice most especially was the transition from pavement to concrete over passes.
I no longer feel a 'thud' as we go over.
It rolls smoothly right over.
Instead of skipping over bumps she goes in and out and stays nice and planted.
No longer feels unstable at speed and has the confidence back.

Kevin, Ron and Richard as always many thanks and its always a pleasure.
My only complaint is that I did not get to stay long enough...

From factory settings this is what I adjusted it to in black and the changes done today are in red.

forks
pre load one turn stiffer -3 turns
damping four clicks stiffer (clockwise) -1
compression four clicks stiffer (clockwise) -1

rear compression four clicks stiffer (clockwise)
damping four clicks stiffer (clockwise) -2

-2 turns on rear spring preload

Also a pic of zip tie on fork which according to Kevin if its not like 5-6 mm right above end of travel I can take a little more out .
But for now I think I'll ride it and see over time how much diff it really is.

I'm gonna have to make the trip across the alley to have them work a little magic for me and Pearl real soon.
Thanks Blanca for the tip.

Your welcome .
You won't regret it .
There is also a pretty good pizza place directly next door .
You can get a slice come back and watch Ron or Richard work on your bike right thru big window in store front .
The best thing to me is my bike never leaves my sight .
The entire time she is visible and I can see what's going on .
I can't stand places that take your key and that's it , you don't see your
bike until it's done .

I have asked to do same a couple times and they declined .
Prolly from working next door they are a little burnt on it .
But you can always make the offer .
Let me know if and when you may go .
Maybe I'll ride down and we can split a pie ?

That sound like a plan! Will do.

Yes it was nice going down there .
Down and back on I95 is never really 'fun' but more nerve racking !
This morning (Saturday) I'm going for a spin though for about an hour or so .

After riding today all I can say is if your bike suspension has not been set up for your weight your missing out on a comfy proper ride .
Mine was STIFF !
Now it rides right and doesn't skip along but rather tracks firmly planted .

Little bit of a bump here but, what do you look for when adjusting the suspension for your weight? I was looking to do this myself in the near future but, even if I took it to a shop, how would they know what is right for me? Is there like a rule that is commonly used for certain weight sizes? Hopefully that made sense. I've been doing a lot of riding lately and I'm just looking around to make things a little more comfy/enjoyable.
