What If Somebody Chromed Your Rotors?

This might be stupid, but a guy wants to sell me a set of wheels for the Busa, but he chromed rotors. I figure that the brakes would obviously grind it back down to normal after a few days. But still. Was that a dumb thing to do? I can't say that I was thrilled when he told me. Is it really no big deal? They do look awesome.

I was trying to decide between his wheels and just getting an OEM chromed set and slapping on some aggressive stoppers in one fell swoop. Which one would you pic for the same basic money?

1) A set of chromed OEM wheels, bearings installed, stock rotors chromed, and ready to be put on bike (minus tires) for $1100?

2) A set of OEM chromes and have local race shop install more aggressive brakes and everything for probably about $1200 when it is all said and done?

sounds like you RIDE your busa, forget chromed rotors, shiney things dont help you stop, or go for that matter

Yeah, my intent was not for show--at all. No extended swing arms, balloon tires, or chromed gas tanks Maybe a little bling...but not at the cost of performance. The rotors just happend to be attached to the wheels I was considering. But I don't want inferior gear on my bike when I am out carving corners with it---especially tinkered with brakes...no no no no.

I know you can get chromed rotors for HD's that dont affect the performance, are they available for the Busa? If you like the rims, ditch the chrome rotors and swap your rotors? It's not rocket science...

Chroming makes parts more brittle too. That's why you don't chrome working suspension parts like leafsprings or coils.

Those prices seem kind of expensive, are they charging you a core charge, I had a set put on for $675 rolling out the shop!
