Just purchased a Chinese knock off of the Baxley Sport Chock for $69 CDN (on sale from $99 reg price) from Princess Auto: Princess Auto I am surprised at the excellent quality, and it is the exact measurements of my Baxley, and of as good quality (only blue). It came in a much smaller box than the Baxley (cheaper shipping) and did require some assembly. The store in this thread will ship if you need one. Part number: 8245417 CHEAP TOOLS and POWER PRODUCTS etc. Mail Order Contact for tools |

I'd like to support in the good company here in the states , but that is almost identical* design...for a fraction of the cost. I wonder if baxley not holding the the patent pending any longer

better question is if they ever held the patent outside of the US. Usually not something most people do but often is the $5-10k they coulda spent to protect from this stuff. I'm pretty tempted to order one but funds are a little low after moving this month. ______________________________________ |

The "Sport Chock" is designed for smaller front wheels, and if you put a larger diameter wheel in it, it could fall over. Look on the Baxley site for their videos, the guy rocks that thing side to side off the ground. I trailer mine on one, and so do a lot of other guys and never a problem. It is the best designed chock on the market IMO. (That is why I got a second one) |

I use a couple of the ones shown above from Harbor freight...I like the looks of the blue one better, but can't go wrong for $59~!~ It actually saved one of the bikes from falling about a month ago ______________________________________ ![]() ~!~There's no substitute for Horsepower~!~ 200.4 mph Maxton Part of going fast is remembering that at some point you have to slow down Last edited by outlawbusa; 11-06-2009 at 09:24 AM. |

I want to support jobs and business in our neck of the woods too, but it has to be somewhat competitive. This Princess Auto (named for Royalty, not femininity ) has been around for 75 years and has 32 stores in Canada. They are fairly big stores, and do a lot of business. Now, almost everything in the store is made in China, so it is less costly. As usual there are quality issues with some stuff but in the last few years that has been greatly improved. A lot of their stuff comes branded with their own brand name (Power Fist), and I'm guessing they must have their own factories over there making just their stuff. Regarding these chocks, I can't see them knowingly violating patent law - they don't need the business that bad. So far I'm guessing they have sold about 50 of these at the one store I go to, so system wide that is about 1600 units. I have to assume that when I buy from a legit dealer that it is OK, and they are legal (whatever that means in this world today?). If I was buying from the back of a van or at a flea market, I would be suspicious, but I feel we are OK here. JMO Last edited by mike1180; 11-06-2009 at 10:07 AM. |
