So before you go any farther let me just say that our representation at this funeral was very professional and sincere.. We did not take any pictures that Don would not have taken nor did we act out loud or cause a raucus and disturb anyone.... I hated the reason that we had to be there but I just couldn't pass up getting a few good pics for the record books.... When is the next time that we can get 20 Org members in church pews together? :cheerleader:

This is what we saw when we pulled into the parking lot, I was a little dissapointed in the Busa turnout but I knew that many had to ride together and short notice and all...

A few minutes later this is what I hear coming around the corner... I went from a little dissapointed to overwhelmed in just seconds... To see so many of Don's friends pull up on bikes was fantastic to witness.

A terrible backdrop for a Busa picture!

All the guys (and gals) getting off the bikes and getting ready to come inside...

I think Semi snapped this one of the group getting the game plan on how things would occur....

I think you kinda have to have been there to understand this next comment... (Sherry, Patrick if you read this we were not offended in any way that we sat here but it is in our nature to joke about it..... )
This little area that you see here is actually called the family room, this is where the family typically sits to have some privacy during the funeral. Don's family chose to have all of the Org members sit there so we were together... There was a whole huge section that seated probably 300 people just around to the side, we felt is was appropriate to name this area the "BANNED" section instead of the family area... Michelle, we all did indeed go to the corner!

We had a group "Get your lean on" moment in the church pews.... My gosh folks Don would have been so proud of each of you for finding some laughter in such a difficult time... His personality and sense of humor can be seen in this picture, it is just so ironic that we had to be there to pay our final respects.
Dons Funeral 026.jpg

After all the great words of encouragement from the pastor and the testimonies from his friends the Org members were asked to step outside with the hearse while Dons body was brought out. You can see the sadness in the faces of our friends.

After Don was loaded up the bikes were saddled and ready for a very short but important escort to the graveside... Lots and lots of people there but I dont think that very many understood the meaning of the bikes escorting the body to the gravesite....

The bikes going to the graveside

Another terrible backdrop!
Dons Funeral-mod1.jpg

I just couldn't resist posting this pic, when is the last time anyone saw LCB in a dress (Snicker Snicker) I figured she would come in leathers or scrubs......
Dons Funeral-mod4.jpg

Just a little cropping of the pics so that you're not distracted from what I wanted you to see.
Dons Funeral-mod5.jpg

I learned tha Don served in the Navy and was on the Enterprise when the plane hit the deck and bombs were exploding...
Dons Funeral-Mod6.jpg

He was buried with full militay honors including the 21 gun salute...
Dons Funeral-mod7.jpg

Such an honor to have known Don and to witness the respect and honor of not only my friend but a protector of our country.....
Dons Funeral-mod9.jpg

With as much respect as I could I thought it was necessary to capture these moments for all the members to see. He was loved by so many....
Dons Funeral-mod8.jpg

After the funeral as many as could stay met at Outback Steakhouse...
Dons Funeral 051.jpg

I have opened and closed a few bars in my day but I have never ever been there when they opened the doors of an Outback and walked out with them when they closed... We spent 6 hours there visiting as long as people would stay... I ended up with Kristie, Acehole and Semi coming back to the hotel room and staying up for a few more hours telling stories....

This has been a sad year for all of us.

Thanks Doug and glad you and the Misses made it home safe.

That absolutely just brakes my heart to see the soldiers and the flag on Dons gasket.

Thanks for the pics and the representation.

Great pictures and good to all for the respect and honor displayed. The bike escort was awesome...........Thanks for the photos.

I'm sure the family was proud to see as many of his friends show up on bikes that did.

Thanks for posting those up Cap. Definitely been a tough few days for everyone.

I spent 10 years serving my country and I have buried my second friend with Military Honors...can't tell you how hard it is to watch a wife receive the flag. Sherry, I have no words.

Love ya Don, you will be missed.

Charlie

Love the pics! I sure wish we could have stayed and had dinner with everyone but it just wasn't feasible. As always, it was a pleasure to see you and Kristie. OH, and thank you for the flower that meant a lot to me.
