Can you paint your forks?

I have the bike broke down right now and was looking at it last night, the entire bike is black with a bit of chrome, except the forks their gold, my question is can you paint them, instead of PC them, is it bad for it, will it work, would it be a waste of time? THanks.

You can definitely paint the gold and it won't hurt them.

can not paint anything that goes past the dust boot.. the rest is open game but careful around axle openings and clearance to the triple tree.. they are pretty darn tight tolerance and the amount of material put on by painting is going to make your day a lot longer..

Personally? anodizing would probably be a better idea for the upper tube..

I really just want to do the parts that are visible when the bike is dressed!!!

You could buy my SILVER tubes, complete, taken off a 2000 with 1300 miles on em (I'm not trying to sell them, but if you need em let me know). Raydog

I would have the upper legs PC; it would require to have the forks disassembled though. Painting would probably not require the disassembly but is not as durable. Tough choice.....
