Power Wire

Hey guys i wanna put in a cig lighter plug on my left dash panel is there a certain power wire i can splice into or just hook it too the battery?

There are the power and ground on the right handside near the turn signal that could be used, but I would run the lighter (with an inline fuse) straight to the battery.

it wont drain the battery as i have seen a few car batteries do that granted they hay much bigger wire and load but just want to make sure
