So, I decide to take my bike out and notice this grinding noise coming from the caliper. I try to ride slowly to id the situation. I notice the back end had a wobble to it. Bike only has 486
conservative miles. I put her on the stand to check the wheel, and notice the wheel bearings were none existant. I remove the wheel for repair. After further inspection, the service guy at the dealer where the chrome work was done forgot to install the spacer which helps keeps them in place. The dealer wants to pick up bike and repair but I have declined...Remember, wheel is already off and at local facility for repair. Trying to get dealer to pay for parts and labor.
What are my options on this? This mistake could have been fatal if I did not observe the break in period.

Option 1; Make the dealer fix your bike
Option 2; Make the dealer fix your bike
    etc. etc.

Try to get some extras from them. Sounds like your bike is new so they should work with you. If not tell the you want your money back and you'll get another bike somewhere else. If they tell you they can't ask them what there going to do about the attempted manslaughter charges.

wow! that is dealer service staff for you.
dealer wants you to have them fix it because it will cost them cheaper to get it done rather than place you are at.
you need to tell them they already screwed it up and you can't trust them with anything else in the future and things are already apart in the shop anyway.
if you feel confident about the place you have it now that they will do a good job, talk to the owner of dealer that it is your choice now where you want to get it fixed and they better have a check ready for you when the job is done otherwise a law suit will be the next thing to do.
my only question to you is why didn't take it back to dealer at the beginning when you notice the problem specially when it is under warrant?

The reason I did not take it back to the dealer is because they are in Lansing and I'm in Detroit. They also had my bike for 4 months(March-June)just to chrome the swing arm, wheels and replace the front cowl which was damaged on delivery. When I installed the full exhaust, I noticed some other repair problems. So, my confidence in this dealer is not high. I have limited miles because of weather and business travel.

well... dealer might keep it for another couple of months to get it fixed since they are slow and under staff and here comes the fall and you have not had much chance to ride. get it it fixed where you have it now and demand for dealer to pay for it. find out how much it costs and discuss it with dealer befor you fix it.

I'm a little confused. Did you chrome your wheels through the dealer and they did the R&R? If the dealer performed the work, they should be allowed to repair their work free of charge to you. If they are willing to stand behind their work, let them have the bike. If you allow someone else to work on it, then they can waive any responsibility to warrantee what they did.

Definitely get it taken care of, as the hub could be damaged, as well as the axle, etc.

The dealership where I purchased the bike had the chroming performed prior to delivery. They are also 150 miles away. The bike was unsafe to ride and no vehicle to transport it. I removed the wheel from the bike and the story begins. It would make since to let them get the bike but this mistake is a big one and to give them a second chance... Looks like I will get them to provide parts and let a more competent installer do the job. Bike is paid for so no payments to make.

Update..the dealership will be sending all parts required to service the bike to the place I have selected and pay all fees. Not trying to get rich, just trying to ride.
