I can't wait to see what happens when the head to head battle starts between the two 08's it's just never ending.

Nice numbers! A few more ponies out of a two year old bike.

A head to head is going to be great!!
Proud owner of the filthiest Busa on the board.

i guess it looks good on paper being dynoed by a kawacrappy rider....i am not a fan of any kawasaki though...im partial to the king of speed...long live the busa!!!!![]()
I have never been a fan of Kaw either. When I lived in NC I rode with some Kaw riders. I rode zx9s, 12s and 14s. I was not impressed by any of them and most sold them and bought busas. I guess it is hard to step down to something less for me so I still have my 01 busa and will hopefully have an 08 busa in my garage out here.

I know top speed isn't as big of an issue with these guys anymore .... its more about the 1/4 mile now. BUT ... I seem to remember the ZX-12R having about 10 more ponies than the Busa and not being able to beat it on the top end nor at the 1/4 mile strip because of it poor aerodynamics. Heck, not even the original ZX-14 was able to put up a higher top speed than the Gen-1 Busa when Sport Rider de-restricted both.
The Gen-2 Busa is supposed to be more aerodynamic than the Gen-1 and the ZX-14 fell behind the Gen-1 Busa, the Gixxer 1000, and the ZX-10R. I don't see how, with 2 or 3 ponies more than the Gen-2 Busa, it's gonna be able to put up a higher top speed. A better 1/4 mile time ... maybe ... and that's a big MAYBE! But top speed ... I doubt it.
Yep been watching that site as it's all unfolded. 184hp with race gas, not to shabby. The 08 14 has a host of changes to make it competitive with the 08 busa. I've had 2 14's an 06 & 07. It's a great bike. I've also had the original 99 busa also a great bike. Both 08 bikes will be so close it will come down to the rider on the street. The 14 may have it covered at the strip because its easier to launch. *I have a 08 org/blk busa on order, hoping to see it any day now.![]()

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. What was being said here? Nevermind.![]()
Dont know something.
..too bad they dont compete for price as hard as hp numbers.![]()

It should be noted that the ZX14 test that resulted in 184 hp was conducted with no air filter...
"To clean up the a/f , I decided to try and lean it out by removing the air filter, and the bike responded promptly.
If you listened real closely while removing the filter, you can here the bike hiss, as if it was gasping for air with the filter in."
The bike in stock form was dynoed at 175.3 ... there is another post with a Busa in a dealer that was dynoed at 178 ...
Now once dyno runs are conducted with the exact same mods the truth will come - the difference will be negligible anyway... both great and powerful bikes, taste will dictate the choice.

Nice write up. Now lets go drop a few thousand in an '08 Busa and have the top professionals play with it and throw it on a dyno![]()

Wouldn't matter how many ponies the 14 made.... Hasn't come close to the only numbers that count in big business; "SALES"! Read it and weep, IF the 14 continues to have a weak US market it'll be history! Take that to your dyno.. *
It has however managed to match Suzuki in one aspect.... The 08's are leaving the showroom floors at the same pace as Suzuki's 07's!

ok all of that for 3HP wow, well how much gain you get from a rider that is 250 and 190 pounds, there goes the difference. Still Busa will be the king of the road, even the guys that tested both said busa is just a better all arround bike. *Kawasaki ZX14R * * *

Suzuki was the first to break out of the 1100cc class of the three (Honda, Kaw, Zuk). After almost 10 years Kaw comes out with a 1352, and now a bike that has not even hit the street in full effect yet has threaten it's little golden goose. It's back to the drawing board. I just wish I could have seen the look on their faces when they were testing the new Busa because you know they did. Intimidation is a B.

We can dream lol. I don't understand how these bikes are always so close. Why doesn't someone lay the hammer down and give us some real hpOriginally Posted by BlueHaya @ Oct. 31 2007, 8:28 AM
