back in black - winter mods

well, the only good thing about winter is the resulting time for some modifications. as itīs freakinī cold here for some weeks, i already started my mods some time ago and hopefully finish most of the work this weekend. hope you enjoy my little documentation. letīs start with some comfort-stuff:

i bought a set of buell (r.i.p.) footpegs and modified them to fit the busa. making them fit was not that difficult and just took about half an hour. here are some pix:

the beginning. quite ugly and far away from being cool, the originial footpegs:

the buell-stuff looks much better and promised to offer more comfort:

may the games beginn:

the buell pegs are too wide to match, some grinding makes it fit:

a few minutes later the new peggies were installed and ready to be tested:

200 miles later i found out two things: comfort is much better than with the genuine stuff. driving is much more fun, feels completely different, though the pegs are just about one inch repositioned. hell, yeah! success!

the other thing is: my shoes collide with the exhaust. that means: my shoes get bbq-ed and the exhaust is scratched by my feet. thatīs unexceptable. so i had to go back to my garage and found a solution that makes me, the exhaust and my shoes happy. pix to come this weekend.

as i hope to finish the other modifications these days, too, iīll post some more pix pretty soon. i created a one-off passenger seat cover, did some paintjobs, installed a wider back-tyre, adjustable links, new windscreen, new brakes and some other stuff. canīt wait to reassemble the bike tomorrow.

Hello everyone,
We wanted to do something a little different this year for Christmas so we had a custom Kanji Christmas Ornament made....

Hello everyone,
We wanted to do something a little different this year for Christmas so we had a custom Kanji Christmas Ornament made. With the artwork that we finalized on you actually get two ornaments out of one.

These are made of 1/8" colored acrylic that has been laser cut so the finish is very smooth... We have 4 colors which are

Black
Red
Blue
Mirror / Chrome

I am going to put a few pics up of the the different colors. As with most christmas ornaments thes are cut very precise and will break (It isnt ABS plastic) but will last many years if hung on the tree and properly cared for...

The price for a set (the inner and outer cuts) is 6.00 + 2.00 shipping, that equates out to 4.00 for a custom ornament... We also engraved the text "Merry Christmas 2009" on the front of the larger ornament.

The size of the larger ornament is 3" 1/4 x 2" 3/8
The size of the smaller ornament is 2.5" x 2"

So today I heard this "unconfirmed"--and I repeat "unconfirmed" rumor. Since most folks here know more than I do--I thought I'd check it here first. Here's the story:

Suzuki is pulling all sales of its products out of the US market. That includes autos, cycles, atv's. It seems that the auto arm of the company is in such bad shape (so many dealers closing) that the Corporation can't afford any more blood letting of money and therefore will pull completly out of the US market.

NOW---Please tell me what I heard is WRONG!:please:

if you don't like what's here, press Alt+F4, and i'll be notified immediately.
posted this in my blog a bit ago, wondered what the other christians thought of the contents.

This is for all of you "non christians" out there. Specifically, the ones who want to remove all references of God from our Government. Things like "In God We Trust", and "One nation under God", any religious symbols on federal land, the list goes on.

Do you know WHY you are celebrating CHRISTmas? It's the day we CHRISTIANS celebrate the birth of Jesus. Jesus, for those of you who don't know, is the only son of God, God in human skin, who died for my sins, and yours. CHRISTmas is not an economic stimulus, a reason to shop, or a reason to be lazy and stay home from work, it's a birthday. Not yours, but His. If you don't believe in God or Jesus, then you have no reason to celebrate, do you? So, this being said, I'll expect to see you at work both CHRISTmas eve and CHRISTmas day.

What? I don't celebrate Kwanzaa, so I don't take time off from work. Same thing with Hanukkah, I don't take 8 days off for that either. Why should a "non christian" like yourself celebrate a Christian holiday? How about another example of your hypocrisy?

Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus, following His torture and subsequent death by crucifixion. He was whipped, beaten, tortured, and finally hung on a wooden cross by His wrists and ankles until he died. The only man who never committed a sin was mocked, spat on, and treated like a criminal, so that we may be viewed as righteous. He took your sin, and my sin, upon himself, and died a sinners death, so that we may be allowed into the kingdom of the father. But you don't believe any of this, so for Easter break, your kids should keep going to school. You shouldn't take any time off either, so you can show how "non christian" you are.

In closing, You're all invited to feast at the Father's table. You are His children, whether or not you want to admit it. Your salvation is waiting for you, already paid for, like tickets at will call. All you have to do to claim it is to turn your back on sin, and believe in Christ.

Merry Christmas

THIS NEEDS TO KEEP GOING.
Leading the fight is U S Marine Gunnery Sgt. Michael Burghardt, known as 'Iron Mike' or just 'Gunny'. He is on his third tour in Iraq . He had become a legend in the bomb disposal world after winning the Bronze Star for disabling 64 IEDs and destroying 1,548 pieces of ordnance during his second tour.

Then, on September 19, he got blown up. He had arrived at a chaotic scene after a bomb had killed four US Marines.. He chose not to wear the bulky bomb protection suit. 'You can't react to any sniper fire and you get tunnel-vision,' he explains. So, protected by just a helmet and standard-issue flak jacket, he began what bomb disposal officers term 'the longest walk', stepping gingerly into a 5 foot deep and 8 foot wide crater.

The earth shifted slightly and he saw a Senao base station with a wire leading from it. He cut the wire and used his 7 inch knife to probe the ground. 'I found a piece of red detonating cord between my legs,' he says.. 'That's when I knew I was screwed.' Realizing he had been sucked into a trap, Sgt Burghardt, 35, yelled at everyone to stay back. At that moment, an insurgent, probably watching through binoculars, pressed a button on his mobile phone to detonate the secondary device below the sergeant's feet 'A chill went up the back of my neck and then the bomb exploded,' he recalls. 'As I was in the air I remember thinking, 'I don't believe they got me....' I was just ticked off they were able to do it. Then I was lying on the road, not able to feel anything from the waist down.'

His fellow Marines cut off his trousers to see how badly he was hurt. None could believe his legs were still there 'My dad's a Vietnam vet who's paralyzed from the waist down,' says Sgt Burghardt.. 'I was lying there thinking I didn't want to be in a wheelchair next to my dad and for him to see me like that. They started to cut away my pants and I felt a real sharp pain and blood trickling down. Then I wiggled my toes and I thought, 'Good, I'm in business.' As a stretcher was brought over, adrenaline and anger kicked in. 'I decided to walk to the helicopter. I wasn't going to let my team-mates see me being carried away on a stretcher.' He stood and gave the insurgents who had blown him up a one-fingered salute. 'I flipped them one.. It was like, 'OK, I lost that round but I'll be back next week.'

Copies of a photograph depicting his defiance, taken by Jeff Bundy for the Omaha World-Herald, adorn the walls of homes across America and that of Col John Gronski, the brigade commander in Ramadi, who has hailed the image as an exemplar of the warrior spirit.
Sgt Burghardt's injuries - burns and wounds to his legs and buttocks - kept him off duty for nearly a month and could have earned him a ticket home. But, like his father - who was awarded a Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts for being wounded in action in Vietnam - he stayed in Ramadi to engage in the battle against insurgents who are forever coming up with more ingenious ways of killing Americans.
