Default Governor Issues With A Turbo 'Busa

A very good friend asked me to search for a solution to a potential problem with his turbo 'Busa. He plans to enter the Texas Mile this year with his 2002 turbocharged Hayabusa. He recently updated his old antiquated Power Commander to a new PC III USB. The engine was subsequently dyno tuned after the installation. The individual tuning the bike suggested that he [my friend] purchase a TRE in order to prevent the bike from running lean on top.

That just doesn't make since to me. I was under the impression that the Power Commander took care of fueling issues. I'd be willing to wager that the tuner was referring to "banging the governor" on boost. Regardless -- the bike does need a derestrictor in order to go beyond 186 mph. My friend is interested in TRE's sporting a gear position indicator. What devices do y'all suggest for this application? Does the computer look for both 186 mph and sixth gear position in order to implement the governor? If so, couldn't he just disable the speedometer at the countershaft sprocket?

There is one other question. The bike is putting around 220 hp to the drums of the dyno. What sprocket ratio would put a 150 pound rider over 200 mph in one mile? I suggested that he go down three teeth on the rear sprocket.

Thanks, in advance, for the input.

The best bet for your friend would be to get the ecu editor from Greg (boost-by-smith). This will allow him to derestrict the bikes top speed and also get rid of he dreaded soft limiter that can potentially destroy a turbo engine. The ecu editor has alot of additional functions built into it that he can mess around with later on.

Also tell him to slam the bike down for better aero's.
