Hi guys,

My buddy's starter brakes down for the third time in a few months, he is getting a little frustrated .
Anybody had this problem ?
I am thinking that maybe the crankshaft turns a little heavy that the starter have to work a little harder and then burns or something.
I am lost here....
So gearheads think with me :banghead:

What year is it ? and is it stock ? from memory some of the early models had issues. There might be a fix available.

i believe its a 2000 model he is stock., and yeah there is a fix on the starter (axle/ sprocket ?) the new models are longer, he;s got that already, ( if we are talking about the same thing)

thx

You need to upgrade the covers, gears, starter clutch, and starter motor to an 03 to 07!

You can find the parts complete usually on Ebay for a around $250 ish!

^^ What he said. The 99/00's are notorious for that problem, it can cause the starter to kick back and bust the case. Upgrade is simple and a must-do.
