Throttle body Synchronization question

I'm Synching the TBs for the first time and have an issue. When I plug in the IAT sensor (black connector that screws to the back of the air box) the bike dies. When I unplug it the bike runs normal. Is that sensor supposed to remain unplugged during the synchronization?

This is what I did:

-Removed airbox (duh)
-Unscrewed IAT sensor (green connection on bottom of air box) and let dangle on side of frame.
-Plugged in carb sych tool to the proper nipples in TB 1-4
-Removed vaccuum hoses from TB 1 and 4, plugged them and plugged the nipples they were on.
-Also plugged the vaccuum hose that goes between TB 2 and 3 and leads to the IAT sensor that I am having issues with.

I couldn't find a good write up about synching the TBs any help is :welcome:
