direct power

Anyone that uses the direct wire powercord for the radar detectors can you tell me what wire you guys are using to tie the battery power for radar detectors? I just got my windscreen mount and wires from UPS...going to best buy for the escort 8500 now.

I hooked a power plug on my last bike on the sides of the dash fairings . I could plug in a cord that hads a lighter plug in on it but it was only good if I was useing my tank bag . Maybe I'll PM Rythmn too!

If you pull out the guage cluster, there is a loose connector with a brown and black wire, I believe, on the right side. That's an accessory power connector. Just tap the power for your radar detector there. It will shut off power with the key.

Yeah, I have that tied into my gear indicator. Will it be ok if I splice into it and connect the direct wire? I kinda figured I'd have to do this but didn't know if it was ok to tie into it since it's being used?

Well I spliced into the european headlight wires anyway...so far so good.
