I started the day off on an 2009 R1 that Yamaha had out for riders to demo.. Guys, this bike is magical.. the throttle is amazingly smooth and there is no off/on feel, it just spools and unspools like an electric motor.. I am hooked on that bike..

Anyway that got me over the butterflies of the first session and I went out on the track feeling pretty good..

Well nothing like getting up at 6AM and heading out the door of the hotel.. Seems like old days of boat racing..

Hit the track at 6:30 with the gates opening at 7.. Like 4th in line.. by the time the gates open, there are about 30 tow rigs waiting to get in..

Sign waiver, find a nice paved pit spot and unload..
7:30 Registration opens, hey it is right across the lane from pit spot.. cool..
8:00 Tech opens.. Hey right in front of pit spot.. cool again. Sail...

Kevin's ceremony was unforgettable to say the least.. His influence spanned the entire country and even a few other continents..

I got there late Saturday (viewing ends at 6) and so many people were there to pay respects that the viewing got extended another 30 minutes.. I arrived at 6:29 and was basically the last guy in line.. Sure am glad I got to say bye...
