Default hmmm

So I own an 05 hayabusa and the dealer is selling a new 08 Bking for 7k.. So im thinking of trading mine in.

But....have just a few questions (maybe these are stupid)

But is the B-king the same size as the haybusa, just naked?

do you sit more upright on the b-king?

The B-King does sit more upright, but also has no wind protection no matter how low you get. Think 'dirtbike with a Busa motor'. It is a fun bike to ride, but I like my Busa better for what I use it for.

Yea, thats what im thinking. A busa would be WAY better for long trips.
But i was also thinking. If I can sell mine for 6k, id pay another grand or 2 for a brand new bike.
Do you know if you can change the bars out on a Bking and make it angle downward (like the busa)

Disagree about wind protection. It's actually quite good. Drop your chin on the tank and you can take it to the limiter - no problem. Maybe Macon will chime in as he has paper to verify 182 mph stock w TRE. Same engine - better dash, frame and swing arm is unique to the B-king, up right seating position way more comfortable. Same seat height. Overall dimensions almost exactly alike. Wind protection for legs is excellent. Tank covers and pipes over the top - but I like. At this point - if your serious you probably can take a demo. Then you can make a informed decision. Take a 4. something second forth gear roll on from 60 to 120 mph and get back to us... this is not a flickable light weight race replica but it holds its own stop light to stop light with any vehicle out there and is actually comfortable and turns very well.

Not really a naked Busa actually weighs a little more not less...

Do it! You will not regret it. I honestly can't think of anyone who has actually ridden one saying they didn't love it, and have a huge smile on their face. Come over to our B-King site (in sig), join up, hang out for a bit, and then go take that bad boy for a test ride. If you were around here I'd let you take mine. I've let a few guys here ride the B-Kong and they all love it, lol.

Tony, I purchased a B-King during the summer for $8,900 and think I got a great deal. $7,000 is killer!

Yes, the riding position is more upright, but still somewhat sporty. I've ridden a 460 mile day already and had no soreness or discomfort whatsoever. Most sport touring bikes I've ridden aren't as comfortable, including my '08 Buell Ulysses XT, which gives me some comfort issues after only 300 miles. So, I think the comfort makes the bike an excellent candidate for sport touring and any other type of riding. If you add some luggage, like ZG in the B-King section of this forum(check out his pics), it can become a full blown tourer.

The flat bar also gives you excellent leverage on twisty roads so that even though the wheelbase is 1-1/2" longer than the Busa, it handles extremely well. As others have noted, wind management is outstanding for a naked bike, in fact the best of any naked bike I've owned and I've owned far too many.

For me, I love the fact that they're not common.....and obviously won't be in the future. Parts availability shouldn't be a problem, however, as most parts(engine, brakes, etc.) are from other models. The swingarm, dash and plastic bits are unique, but the fact these bikes were/are sold in Europe for 2008, 2009 and 2010 should help.

Frankly, this was a very good bike for the list price, considering its capabilities and quality of components and manufacture. At anything less than 8,000, it's probably one of the best motorcycle bargains ever.

thanks guys. Im just afraid of the upright position. Im not a fan of that since im so tall. I like to lean foward a bit (natual arm length keeps me at a great position) Ill try it out.

Is it possible to change the handle bars to more of a busa setup?

I actually have an 05 and a B King , just so you know you can get a couple of taller wind screens for B King. I am 6'1 with a 32 inch inseam so I am what they used to call long wasted with most of my height above the waist. The B King does a great job of routing the wind past the rider. I don't notice the wind till well past 100 mph. One thing you might want to know about the B King is that it Pulls much harder then the Gen 1 Busas below 100mph. The Tech guys can be more specific but in seems to be the result of the longer stroke of the Gen 2 engine and the shorter gearing.
My one suggestion to you as you make the decision is RIDE a B King if you can . I believed and still belive that they are one of the Ugliest bikes ever made! (sorry guys just an opinion) That is until you are looking across the Handle Bars, then from the first time it yanks your arms as you snap the throttle it "Prettys Up" Real Fast!

I'd let you take it for a ride on one of my favorite roads but since your 3 k miles away - Oh well... That $7K B King just needs a good home!

Still no answer to the question :P.. How much work is it to change the bars to a busa setup? I cant seem to find pictures of the bking bars/tree setup online.

Thanks for the help guys.

Four screws to remove top clamp but lowering may be a problem as lowering may bring them into contact with the tank covers. I will post a picture... but here's one showing the clearance fully turned to left. Not much room!

You might have a problem fitting on a B-King if you are as tall as you say. I am 6' and have a 33" inseam. My knees are pressed into the tank pods lightly while riding sporty (balls of my feet on the pegs). If I am riding more relaxed, it's a perfect fit. There are pegs out there that will give you more room, but how tall are you?

The B-king uses a conventional handlebar setup. You should easily be able to swap a lower bar in there if you want.

Just a set of 7/8 super bars or some other drag style bar will put the controls where ever you want them very inexpensively

Don't try and fit your legs into the tank cut outs. I let my knees ride up the outside as I have long legs.
