Similar problem for me except since mine is lowered I have to keep upright straight an wiggle the stand out from behind... it went to the other side without the kick stand an I had the stand in hand an in the way, so all I could do was toss the stand back an dive under the bike with my body
Not a scratch on her but lets just say I was in pretty bad shape an leave it at that
