Spiked ones seem like they would do more harm then good function wise. Spike is going to want to "Dig" into whatever it comes into contact with.
Also it really depends on how the bike wrecks. I read where riders claimed it caused more harm then good,while others claimed they did their job.
If I was to get some,I would go with ones where the end caps are designed to "Wear" away from the slide. Binding is what would cause more damage and possible bike "Flipping".
