First time at the 1/4 mile track (DeSoto in Bradenton, Florida) with the Busa...
Slapped the turbo on and without any riding or tuning at all took it to the track.
Going on 2 - 3 hours sleep per night for 4 days... I was draggin butt...

On the first pass I had the wastegate hoses switched... boost gauge sky-rocketed so I backed out and coasted through nice and easy.

Reversed (corrected) the hoses and ran 3 more times.
The two passes below where passes 2 & 4... I rolled through on the third and did not get a slip

R/T .400 .460
60’ 1.715 1.655
330’ 4.352 4.286
1/8 6.438 6.440
MPH 118.12
1000’ 8.247 8.276
¼ 9.779 9.816
MPH 145.77 144.34

Thought the bike seemed to be failing to create the expected power...
Got it home and took it for a ride... then noticed the up-pipe was partially disconnected from the plenum.

Hope to do better next time.

What gear are you guys in at the end of the 1/4 mile?
What launch RPM seems to work best? What RPM do you shift at?
Thanks, Mad`

I ran several horrible passes before figuring out a usable combination. I thought I might have to pull the Bandit off the trailer. Last run of the night I ran 10.9@136. Only 1.9 60s.
First night on the busa, all factory settings, except 19psi in the tires.

If you get a hold of the torque in first and second, you can run mid 10's first time out.

Just wondering... are 49 state bikes faster? I haven't seen anyone ride a completely "stock" bike into the 9's here in Sac. CA. Some of the riders own drag bikes as well, so I would tend to think that they know what there doing.

OK guys... Here is my first trip to the track.

I usually race my front motor dragster in Goodguys Vintage racing and NHRA Comp. I am very used to going fast but the whole bike thing is pretty new to me. The dragster runs 7.20 about 185 in the quarter. My 2005 busa Ltd. is the first bike that I have ever purchased and ride it somewhat conservative...

I was at Sacramento raceway on 10-21-05 in the heat of the day 12:30pm and it was about mid 80's waiting for the dragster to show up for a day of testing.. I had no clue where to launch he Busa at and also the track was really stickey. I didn't want to look like a clown.

The bike is 100% stock (so far) and I am about 6'3 & 200lbs.

When I launched it and just about stalled the motor. The rpm was way to low for the conditions. It ended up having a 3.11 60' time. After I got the rpm back up I feather the clutch out and got it back going. I shifted it somewhere around 10,500 to 11k and went through the trap in third on the rev limiter. It went 11.602 and 138.62.

Considering it was the very first pass I ever made on the thing I was somewhat happy. I know there is a ton left in it but I need to work on the launch more. I'll update more when I get back to having time to test the bike. The dragster was ready so the rest of the day was spent tesing that for the Goodguys Fuel & Gas finals in Bakersfeild, Ca.

Ran 10.87 @ 148 MPH in Tucson, with 2.2 sec 60' time (thanks to Turbo and not having a shifter I still can't seem to get my feet on the pegs without hopping it, but I have the shifter ready to install this week, merry x-mas to ME!)

First pass ever on a Busa. Not lowered.
Ran a 10.95 at 133.49.
60" was 2.16.
I know, I sucked at the line.
But I learned a lot. Like take the time to lower the bike. I have a front strap and Soupy's links on the back. But it was already dark when we got to the track and the lighting in the pit area was terrible. Will trailer it next time and bring lights and other things needed to race. Other bikes with the same set up as mine but lowered were running low 10's and some high to mid 9's. Stock bikes except for exhaust, Pc's, gears and basic mods. The track was really well prepped. My boots were sticking to the ground like glue. No need for a burn out. I did learn also that when I'm playing around on the streets down here that the back tire must be slipping more than I thought in 1st through 4th. Because it has never pulled as hard as it did Friday night at the track. Regardless, I had a blast and can't wait for the next races. Feb 3rd. Next time I'll look for Lady Ice , she was there somewhere. And N2050 will make the next race also. The guy who went with me was on a 2002 R1 and he weighs about 60# less than me.. We made 3 passes together. Smoked him all 3 passes. Again, we both had a lotta fun.

I have yet to run, mine is still being broken in. I need to learn to launch a little bit better but this summer I'm planning to go the the track with my fiance and her dad. He's got a monster Subie WRX he is in the lower 11s and hoping to break that this year.
