THis is what my setup is now

VR stage 2 turbo setup with fully built motor
AMS1000 Multi stage Boost controller
4-6in over Swing arm
18/40 gearing with Shinko 200 Soft tire

Looking to be running up to the 300hp mark on the ground mabey a bit more if i decide to pump the race fuel to her but for now we gona keep her on the lower side.

Anyways just looking for some gearing suggestion for the strip
I thought i would try the 18/40 that i have now. Granted i have heard of 18/36? what do you guys think of that?

Granted now rember i weight in at about 345 with gear give or take some now

Any suggestions?

I could be off base.... but I think you are headed in the wrong direction.

You need more gear for bigger riders.

I weight 220lbs (dry weight) and run 18 / 45 gearing with a very similar set-up as yourself.

I would suggest the same, or maybe even more aggressive gearing (ie: 46 - 48 tooth rear).

Help me out here Cecil.

18/45 is essentially the same as a 16/40. I can understand why you wouldn’t want to run a 16/40 because of stress on the chain. Why not run a 17/42 17/43 which is within 1%. Is the 18/40 easier on the chain or are you picking the gear that close and trying to split in between the 17/42 and 17/43?
